The Monastery of Gre'thor

"Our gods are dead. Ancient Klingon warriors killed them a millenium ago; they were more trouble than they were worth." --Worf, son of Mogh

"That's what they think!" --Fek'lhr

The Monastery of Gre'thor is a Klingon religious order dedicated to the restoration of the veneration of the Klingon Gods and the celebration of the primal Klingon spirit, which we believe has been smothered by the concept of Honor and the apotheosis of Kahless.

This task is made rather difficult by the fact that no-one seems to remember the old Gods, except for Fek'lhr, who has been reduced to a mere bogeyman in the minds of the Klingon people. This, however, shall not deter us, for the recent reappearance of Resu~t of the D'eethkoras-i has given new impetus to our mission.

Before Kahless, the worship of the gods was common within the clans. Over time, these beliefs have become more superstition than spiritual guidance, and few Klingons remember or even care to learn of their origin and original context.

In the beginning, Gre'thor was not seen as a bad place. It was a kingdom parallel to its brother Sto vo kor, and was simply an alternate destination between two Klingon cultures. Since Kahless was from the culture that revolved around Sto vo kor, Gre'thor was painted in a bad light when the birth of the Klingon empire came. Two cultures merged as one and the war between Sto vo kor and Gre'thor began.

Herein you will find a record of the ancient beliefs of the D'eethkoras-i, as well as various philosophical musings and reflections. It is our hope that this website will help to bring the true spirit of our ancient heritage back to its rightful place in the Klingon heart.
